Keyboard Buyers Guide - Musical Equipment Online

Welcome to the Musical Equipment Keyboard buyers guide page.

While keyboards are likely my weakest area of expertise, I still have had a fair amount of experience with them - more than most, to be certain.

As with every other type of equipment, the first question is that of a logistical nature - Is this keyboard for enjoyment in your home? To teach your children? Perhaps this will be the focal point of a recording studio or rehearsal space.

Presently, there is a huge variety of musical keyboards. The good news is that the top Manufacturers these days only create a quality product - it really is hard to go wrong. The only downside these days is choosing a model that is either below or beyond you specific needs.

If you can afford it, always go for a higher end model. If you choose a cheaper keyboard, 9 times out of 10 you'll wish you'd spent the extra money. However, if you really can't afford it, take comfort in knowing that you're still getting a quality product - it's simply a matter of features that you'll be lacking.

Remember, it's always better to buy a low cost model from a respected brand name than it is to buy the top end model from a 'no-name' dealer.

High-end manufacturers all make musical keyboards for professional use. They've been doing it for years, and know how to do it right. The really neat thing is that they put a great deal of their high-end technology into their low cost instruments. Why not take advantage of this?

Be sure to shop around, and remember, cheap does not always equate to a good deal. Stick with the big brands and you'll do fine.
